What it does.
Report authors frequently need to see how a measure such as spend, wait time, or a cyclical quantity like hour of day or wind direction is actually distributed across its full range. No visual on AppSource today renders a true radial histogram; existing radial and polar Power BI visuals are categorical radial bar or scatter tools with no real binning logic behind them.
Radial Histogram by CBT solves this by binning a single continuous measure automatically, or by a fixed count, width, quantile, or custom edges typed in directly, and rendering the result as wedges radiating from a center point instead of a traditional bar chart. Wedge radius is scaled by area (square root of value) rather than length by default, correcting the well documented "coxcomb chart" distortion where a linearly scaled radius makes a wedge's drawn area grow with the square of its value. Direct (linear) scaling remains available as an explicit opt-in.
Wedge height can reflect a simple row count, or a weighted sum, average, minimum, or maximum of any bound field, viewed as a count, percent, density, or running cumulative total. The value axis can show a plain bin range, or reinterpret the same bins as a 24-hour clock position or a compass bearing, for data that is genuinely cyclical.
Mean, median, mode, percentile, and custom reference lines render as spokes from center to edge, alongside a standard deviation band and a fitted normal curve, both drawn as polar overlays. Any number of additional target measures can each be bound as an independent reference spoke, with its own label, color, line style, and font. An outlier bin isolates extreme values into a small, fixed-width catch-all zone without distorting the angular scale of the core distribution.
The visual supports Power BI's native interactions, cross filtering, right click context menus, rich tooltips, and keyboard navigation, plus high contrast theming and a configurable formatting pane for every element on the chart. It integrates naturally into any report without needing an external statistics tool or a workaround built from DAX.
